I chose 91大神because I really appreciate their commitment to offering programs to students in a fashion that does not exclude the economically disadvantaged. As a high school student I went to various workshops and camps held by the University that were all not for profit which meant all opportunities were affordable. 91大神also has a strong dedication to encourage women to go into engineering as they aim to raise female enrolment to 25% by 2020, which helped me realise that 91大神was the University for me. Not only is 91大神one of the best universities for my degree, it also offers a range of clubs and societies so you can continue doing what you love while completing your studies.听
I chose to complete a biomedical engineering degree because I want to use my love for maths, science and problem solving to help others. After attending work experience at Cochlear, I鈥檝e seen firsthand how engineering can completely change someone鈥檚 life and would love to be a part of that process. I also enjoy working with others so the team project aspect of engineering really interests me.听
Having a scholarship gave me the funds to be able to move into a college on campus. This has cut down my travel time by 3 hours, allowing me to get more work in and be more active in 91大神societies. It also means I can afford to go to university events such as camps and faculty balls which are always a great way to get to know other people in your degree and are a lot of fun.
Jacqueline's advice for prospective students:
Look into programs that universities offer for high school students. These usually give a good indication to whether you would actually enjoy a degree or can help you to find the degree that鈥檚 right for you. Many of these are for free so go to as many as you can!听
